About us

Citizens Advice Cardiff & Vale is an independent charity and member of the Local Citizens Advice network. We help people resolve their legal, money and other problems by providing free, independent, impartial and confidential advice on a range of issues. We are funded to provide services to people in the local area as well as across England and Wales.

Role overview

You will be part of one of our generalist adviser teams, delivering advice on welfare benefits, debt, housing, employment, immigration, discrimination, family, and social welfare issues. Our teams are diverse, with a range of experiences, and work together in our Barry office, delivering advice to clients via face-to-face appointments, telephone, email and webchat. On occasion, face-to-face appointments take place in our Cardiff office and at our community locations.

During your training you will work 9am to 5pm. Because our telephone lines are open to clients between 8am and 7pm, once you have completed your training, you will work your weekly hours on a shift pattern of either 8am to 4pm, 9am to 5pm or 11am to 7pm. We will give you plenty of notice of your shift. You will also be required to work occasional Saturdays 9am to 1pm, for which you can claim TOIL.
